Our Story
It Started with a Simple Observation
Before founding X5 Management in 2006, Mike Mack spent years working with organizations that had talented people, dedicated employees, and significant opportunities for growth.
Yet many struggled to achieve the results they were capable of achieving. Leaders weren’t aligned around priorities. Expectations were unclear. Communication broke down. Teams worked hard but weren’t always moving in the same direction.
The problem was rarely a lack of effort. More often, it was a lack of alignment. That observation became the foundation for X5 Management.
We believed then, and continue to believe today, that organizations achieve more when leaders and teams are aligned around a common purpose, clear priorities, and mutual accountability.
What We’ve Learned
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside leaders facing some of the most important decisions of their careers. Strategic decisions. People decisions. Growth decisions. Succession decisions.
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is that business is personal.
Behind every leadership challenge, strategic plan, and organizational transition are people trying to make good decisions for their teams, organizations, and families.
That’s why relationships matter. We believe the strongest outcomes come from trusted relationships, honest conversations, and a genuine commitment to helping our clients succeed.
Growing Alongside Our Clients
As our clients evolved, so did the conversations we were having.
What began as a leadership and organizational development practice expanded to include executive coaching, leadership development, strategic planning, and succession planning.
Today, X5 Management is a team of experienced coaches and advisors supporting organizations across Alberta and Western Canada.
While our services have evolved, our purpose has remained remarkably consistent:
Align Leaders and Teams to Achieve.

Looking Ahead
One conversation has become increasingly common in recent years:
What happens if a key leader leaves?
After years of helping organizations navigate leadership transitions, succession planning has become an increasingly important part of our work. Mike’s book, Succession: The Quiet Crisis of Transition and How to Prepare for It, reflects our belief that these conversations should begin long before they become urgent.
We believe organizations are strongest when they intentionally develop future leaders, share knowledge, and prepare for change before it arrives.
That belief continues to guide our work today.
Align Leaders and Teams to Achieve
